Cari Turnlyle has finally gotten her foot in the door and landed a job as a sports writer for a newspaper. She aspires to one day be an investigative journalist with a front page byline. While on assignment, she witnesses an athlete collapse dead on the track. Her instincts tell her that there is more to the story than an accidental death, but as she tries to dig deeper, she is met with obstacles at every turn. Cari enlists the help of her childhood friend, Detective Genevieve Viacorte, but the police are quick to dismiss her theory, leaving her to investigate on her own.
